PHIMAI HISTORICAL PARK IN SOUITHEASTERN THIALAND
In the
northeast region of Thailand, there many beautiful and interesting
archaeological sites. And Nakhon Ratchasima Province, one of the provinces in
the northeast region part of Thailand
With archaeological sites that are hundred of years old and have an interesting
history that is Phimai Historical Park.

Phimai Sanctuary in the Phimai Historical Park is one of the historical
parks of Thailand Located in Phimai District Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
Consists of a stone castle in the Khmer empire, large and beautiful built in
the reign of King Suryavarman 1, around the 16th century, to be used as a
temple of Brahmanism. The art style is
sinful style combined with Angkor War art . Which means that this castle was
converted into a Buddhist place during the region of Jayavarman VII.
This place has beautiful buildings, outstanding and with an
interesting history, such as the main pagoda whit the Naga Pang Buddha statue
enshrined in. The Nakorn Bridge, Arch and
the beautiful engraving .
The inner courtyard is dominated by the white sandstone.

When going to visit Phimai Sanctuary, going through this section is the first part will see Nakron Bridge and the lion sculpture this is symbolizes connection between the human world and heavenly world. According to the belief in The universe in both Hinduism and Buddhism.
Arch and glass wall

Arch way or Kopura located in the
middle of a glass wall are in straight line on 4 sides, north-south, in the
middle of wall.
Banalai
Banalai is located on the outer courtyard. Between the glass wall and the porch arch. It is believed that Banalai is the place to store religious sacred scripture.
Evengaved image
This is sculptural called gable. Sivanat is dancing above the
intal. Narai, sleep Yom sin. It is the gable on the south side of the castle.
Although Phimai castle is a Buddhist temple, the castle is decorated with stories
of Hindu deities.

Open for viewing everyday Not except public holidays from 7.00 am. - 6 pm.
Entrance fee
Admission fee to Thai people is 20 baht per person.
Admission fees to foreigner is 100 baht per person.
Except entrance fees for students/students in uniform and novice monks.
The trip
-Travel by private car from Korat city, use Mittraphap Road or Highway to heading to Khon Kaen about 50 kilometers. Meet the Talad Khae junction, turn right on to Highway 206 for another 10 kilometers to Peasat Hin Phimai. Which is located in the middle of Phimai District.
-Travel by bus take the Korat-Phimai bus at the second bus station in Nakhon Ratchasima city, theri both air condition and normal cars. Parking in front of Prasat Phimai.
